What is the GPSR?
The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) aims to ensure the safety of products placed on the EU market and protect the health and safety of consumers, including children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.

When will the GPSR apply?
It will apply from 13 December 2024 – the date on which the GPSD and Directive 87/357/EEC will be repealed.

Which products are covered by the GPSR?

The scope of application of GPSR is very wide, it covers almost all non-food products sold in the EU market. This includes but is not limited to the following categories of products:

 

Consumer electronic devices: such as smartphones, tablets, TVs, etc.

Children's toys: including all toys designed for children.

Household appliances: such as washing machines, refrigerators, microwave ovens, etc.

Personal care products: such as cosmetics, skin care products, perfumes, etc.

Sports goods: such as bicycles, fitness equipment, sportswear, etc.

Furniture: such as tables, chairs, beds, etc.

Textiles: such as clothing, bedding, curtains, etc.

A product covered by this Regulation shall not be placed on the market unless there is an economic operator established in the Union who is responsible for the tasks set out in Article 4(3) of Regulation (EU) 2019/1020 in respect to that product. 


What should we do?

Need to mention the part of full information in your package or label as follows,

1. Ensure all the products you sell in the EU meet existing labelling and traceability requirements.

2. Have an EU Responsible Person or company for those products.

3. Label the products with the contact information of the Responsible Person, the manufacturer, and, if applicable, the importer.

4. Label products with the type, batch or serial number.

5. Label products with safety information and warnings, where applicable, in the language of the country of sale.

6. Display the Responsible Person information and the manufacturer’s name and contact details for each product in online listings.

7. Display a product picture and any other information needed to identify the product in online listings.

8. Display warning and safety information in online listings, in the language of the country of sale.

Need to mention part of full information above depend on your product and market, the clearance agent know it. Most of products just add the importer information is ok.

How to do?

Example 1:  Stick a label in package and mention the necessary information

Example 3: Add a card in your package and mentioned all necessary information

 

So for your new order, need to add the necessary GPSR information.

If there are old products stocked in the warehouse, promote it to clear off as soon as possible.
