Amazon Europe DDP: Check the EORI Before Shipping

2026.09.02

DDP is still available—but the customs record must be traceable

DDP shipping to Amazon Europe has not been prohibited. Before choosing an Amazon DDP service, confirm that the shipment will be cleared under a valid EORI and that the forwarder can provide the MRN and import declaration. Missing records may delay or affect FBA inbound delivery.

What is Amazon requesting?

An Amazon France notification applies to non-EU sellers sending non-EU goods to fulfilment centres in France. It requests the shipment MRN and either the seller’s EORI or the EORI of its customs representative.

EORI is not a new number. The European Commission already requires it for customs operations in the EU. Since 2020, France has also required relevant logistics platforms to retain the EORI used and the import-declaration reference for certain goods owned by non-EU businesses.

Can DDP still be used?

Yes—when the customs route is transparent and compliant. Before dispatching to Amazon FBA, ask the provider to confirm in writing:

  • who will be the importer or customs declarant;
  • whose valid EORI will be used;
  • whether the MRN and import declaration will be supplied after clearance;
  • whether the invoice, HS codes, value and goods will match the declaration.

If a provider only promises “tax included” but refuses to provide the EORI, MRN or customs documents, do not use that route for Amazon FBA.

Private and independent 3PL warehouses are not affected by Amazon’s process

Deliveries to a buyer’s private warehouse or an independent third-party warehouse are not subject to Amazon Seller Central’s FBA import-record submission process.

Normal EU customs rules still apply when the goods enter the EU, including lawful import clearance, duties, VAT and product compliance. The difference is that an independent warehouse does not have Amazon’s internal requirement to submit MRN/EORI information.

YWHOLA recommendation

Before every Amazon Europe DDP shipment, confirm the importer, the valid EORI used for clearance, MRN availability and responsibility for supplying the customs documents.
