Christmas or Valentine's: two shipping windows, two different paths

2026.11.04

Today is 4 November. Christmas is 51 days away and Valentine's 102. Using the same strategy for both is the most expensive mistake of the quarter.

Consolidated export cartons staged in our Yiwu warehouse, ready for air and sea shipping.

Christmas: sea is already too late

51 days left. Sea freight takes 30–40 days and rail 45–65: they no longer fit. Only two paths remain:

  • Air (15–20 days): still arrives, but unit cost rises.
  • Dropshipping: we ship direct from the Chinese factory to the end customer, no inventory. You keep selling through Christmas without tying up stock.

Valentine's: now is the moment for sea

Valentine's is 102 days away; sea freight fits easily. But there is a date almost nobody watches: Chinese New Year, 6 February 2027. Yiwu factories stop buying raw material in early January, close in mid-January and do not return until March. If your order does not leave before the shutdown, it arrives in April.

The real countdown for Valentine's

  • November: close the order and start production.
  • December – early January: production finished and shipped.
  • Before mid-January: goods on the vessel. After that, the factory is gone.

What to do this week

  1. Christmas: decide now between air and dropshipping; sea is not an option.
  2. Valentine's: close the order this week; the risk is not the vessel, it is the factory closed in January.

How YWHOLA helps

We coordinate air and sea freight from Yiwu, consolidate cargo and run door-to-door dropshipping. Above all, we make sure your order leaves the factory before the Chinese New Year shutdown. (We do not handle customs, EORI/VAT or certifications.)

Send us your market, your dates and your quantity — we prepare the plan.
